SE bots like Google ...
« on: April 15, 2009, 12:41:45 PM »
hi,

can I define the IP addresses from SE bots of Google & Co. (example 66.249. for Google) under the IN settings in this way ??

Code: [Select]
google
yahoo
altavista
msn.
excite
ask.
hotbot
aolsearch
66.249.

Why has SE "msn." a "POINT" at the end but other not ?? Whats the difference between both or it means only that the key must be found in whole domain information that it will be identified as SE ??

thx

nope, only domains (or part of them) can be there.

'msn' is too common. For example 'hotmomsnaked.com' :) - will be detected as 'msn' domain too. So we added dot on the end.
