I tried setting up links in the form of

/tp/out.php?p=100&llink=bannerx&url=http://sponsor.com

But every so often I get clicks going to my trades.

This is correct syntax, only thing what can be wrong is that your sponsor link has p= parameter somewhere in url. If that is the case you can use tools/encoder urlencode() and input sponor url into field and click encode. Then use that encoded url instead of your sponsor url and skim problem is solved.

I'm not using a sponsor link.
