general liscence key question
« on: March 23, 2011, 01:06:35 AM »
this is something that comes up because script designers don't give instructions for shared servers. this is not critique of this script because 80% of scripts give instructions for single domain on a server.    Shared server with multiple domains use  "addon" domain system .If customer wants each domain separate entity[most do] . This means there is one domain when account is set up designated the "root" domain. lets call the root antiporncoalition.com so if we add a second sites to this account now we have 2nd site hotteens.com .the file structure is actually public_html/antiporncoalition/hotteens.com .but the surfer sees two separate sites either hotteens com or antiporncoalition.com ,whichever they visit.lets say we want to install trade pulse on out teen site but we probably don't want a trade script on our anti-porn site on the same sever. here is instructions "ATTENTION! Specify only http://www.yoursite.com/
NOT the http://www.yoursite.com/somepage.html "  .So Question is 1]do we have to install TP on antiporncoalition [root domain]and get key for the root domain for it to work on add on domains?.2]If we don't have to install it on the root;Is it a option to do this and would  it work on all the add on domains under? or 3] would we have to get keys for each add on domain?.

Hi John,

I'm not from Scriptpulse so I'm happy to be corrected here - but I have exactly the server setup that you describe and my understanding and experience with that is that the licenses are per domain so :
1] No you do not have to install on the root domain
2] Because the license is per domain then no you cannot install just one server wide license
3] Yes, you need a license for each domain

HTH

Sorry but actually from my experience master domain is in public_html and addon domains are in separate folders, so you simply upload install.php to that separate folder which is actually publichtml of addon domain and run install via web. Problem solved.
