Trade Pulse Support / Maximum thumb sizes settings - for grabber
« on: January 03, 2012, 10:05:12 AM »
Hello,

Just occured to me, it would make sense to have maximum thumb sizes setting for thumb grabber as well in addition to the existing minimum thumb sizes setting.

Especially because grabber grabs pieces of huge header graphics from other sites. ( header graphics that have link ). I know there are stop words, but I cannot manually check the codes of all my trades to see what is the name of the image file they use for header graphics.

it affects $Din value, since $Din value is already taking into account the country modifier (as opposed to $Din_r - raw in without country modifier weighting)

Best idea is to count everything, and send all traffic as normal. So leave everything default.

Much much later, if your site has big traffic, its good idea to try to trap nocookie so send nocookie to gallery in table of spec. out settings. Nocookie out traffic is completely useless because remote script wont give you credit for it - because it cannot track it, however it will decrease the quality of your out traffic.

However filtering your traffic too much - especially when your site is still small - will prevent growth.

This is because remote trade scripts do give you credit for bot traffic as well ... crazy but true.

So basically the bigger is your site, the more you can afford to filter your out traffic.

Trade Pulse Support / Re: custom thumb for trades
« on: December 18, 2011, 12:10:06 AM »

Thanks,

For future reference 4 anyone who wants to use custom thumbs, not rely on grabber:
Ok, figured that this is the code you have to use:

<th align="center" valign="middle" scope="col"><div align="center"><a href="tp/out.php?link=toplist&to=%%DOMAIN1%%"><img src="%%BANNER_SRC1%%" /></a></div></th>

In admin, edit each trade individually, and set the URL and thumb name for the thumb in the "Banner URL" box.

ok, I have to do this because grabber does not work, so at least I create screenshots of my trades to display this instead of thumbs.

ok, looked strange to me that looked like, I have same trade thumbs in thumbs top list , not for hours but for days!

its set to grab only 1 thumb / trade every 2 hours. Well, it does not do that.

Even I clicked 'manual thumbs grabbing - grab now', waited 5 minutes, hoping that it will grab actual thumbs and pull it into thumb top list.

nothing. same, days old thumbs there after rebuilding tops.

if I use

<th align="center" valign="middle" scope="col"><div align="center"><a href="tp/out.php?link=toplist&to=%%DOMAIN1%%"><img src="%%BANNER_SRC1%%" width="300" height="156" border="0" /></a></div></th>

it does not work either.

Trade Pulse Support / custom thumb for trades
« on: December 17, 2011, 11:25:38 AM »
hi,

created custom thumbs for my trades.
uploaded them to server into /topthumbs directory
set permission 777
edited all trades to use custom thumbnail (entered URL for the jpegs)

Using this toplist template, but there must be something wrong because the custom thumb does not show up:

<th align="center" valign="middle" scope="col"><div align="center"><a href="tp/out.php?link=toplist&to=%%DOMAIN1%%"><img src="http://www.mysite.com/topthumbs/%%BANNER_SRC1%%" width="300" height="156" border="0" /></a></div></th>

what am I doing wrong? Thanks

Trade Pulse Support / Re: uniques variable in dynamic scheme
« on: December 15, 2011, 03:40:31 AM »
hmm, okay, thanks.

I was thinking of 'bot proof' dynamic return scheme, because the regular return value can be influenced by non human traffic.

Anyway, we can still use cron based dynamic scheme, which is a good alternative.

Trade Pulse Support / uniques variable in dynamic scheme

(($Duout)/($Duin+1))

is this possible to use in dynamic scheme? I see no uniques variables listed in manual ?

or even better would be

(($TradeDuout)/($TradeDuin+1))

??

lol, true

plus why would you want update after update if all is working fine ?

there are some people who are never happy, no matter what, and they blame the trade script.

the trade script can only do that much.

the trade script will not surf the web to find good match trades for you

the trade script wont design a good looking site for you

maybe if your traffic sucks, look 1st into the 1st things in the 'pipeline' , like your sites design, content, speed, and especially your rotator script, and your site layout. Did you put any brainpower into designing your pages layout?

I am laughing my head off sometimes, people are crying and blaming TP and when I check their sites, they do not even have top lists there,

hahaha

some people need to learn the basics before they criticize

thank you.

I checked anti-cheat ref % and all trades okay, so I still dont get what could be clicking on out.php ??? search bots maybe. Because it looks like a 'rush' in a certain hour of the day, then the rest of the day nothing.

if I see this kind of stats next time I will PM you ;-) I deleted this trade. And no, I have only the index page, no other pages.
