I did READ the FUCKING MANUAL. Several times. I take it the person who wrote it is not native English, because it does not explain anything very well. Maybe someone should proof read the manual.

I am not an imbecile. I have worked with computers and code for 15 years. I have installed scripts far more complicated than this in the past where the manual HAS been written well. I have also taught English to a high level, so I know how to read, write and spell.

I am also quite capable of explaining something without resorting to insults. I find it is a good rule of thumb when I'm trying to generate business. Maybe you should think about it sometime.

I have just realised how inconvenient this is, as it basically means it is impossible to add toplists for sites I have a CCBill affiliate code for.

Surely it would be far better to have the site URL as the defining field, and have it as a separate field for putgoing traffic with the option to tick a box and use the same for both? This would mean that you can set up affiliate links as your outgoing trade and therefore use the toplist option for different things.

For example, I would like to just put all my links into different toplists. I have defined groups, so that site can belong to one, or many groups. Each group will be displayed in a toplist on a different part of the site. I want to use tradepulse to track my traffic whether that be affiliate traffic or not, so even though I have affliliate links out, it will a) track the hits in and out and b) sort my list of sites of affiliate likes so that the most productive ones will be at the top of the list... easy, if the data is sorted by INCOMING and not OUTGOING domain... so really, the two should be separate???

Right... I seem to be getting somewhere now...

input=INPUT FILE NOT DIRECTORY(template)
output=OUTPUT FILE NOT DIRECTORY(file which U will include later)

At no point in the manual or in your quote above does it say HOW you are supposed to name the file. By trial and error over several hours I have finally worked out that it needs a .set extension.

Right! Now to see if I can actually get a toplist working... update later!

When I click to preview the toplist template, as it does appear in the list for some reason, I get this error :

You don't have permission to access /toplists/ on this server.

But I do??? The permissions are 777?

I saw that the path to my 'input' and 'output' directory was incorrect, so I set it to the 'toplists' directory which has CHMOD 777 permissions, and submitted the template... It came back with these errors.

As a person that just wants to install something, write a toplist and put it on my site, I am finding it hard to understand why this continues to have errors or this kind...?

Maybe this is something you could add then, as it's not uncommon and gives false results for those toplists.

Thanks for the reply, but it tells me nothing???

I am still getting this error and if I cannot make a toplist and use it, then I cannot see how this script will work for me.

I installed it to the letter, the permissions are correct on the 'toplists' directory where the toplists should be written, however ever time I try to add a toplist I get the errors.

I am desperate to get this fixed once and for all. Surely this error should not happen on first install?

Trade Pulse Support / How can you add more than one trade from the same URL?

Sometimes, when sites have put up a hosted toplist on a site such as usa.ultimatetopsites.com, there could be possibly 1000's of sites that all start with the same URL, but have added code after that defines which site and therefore - trade - it is.

For example :

http://usa.ultimatetopsites.com/bin/topsite.cgi?erinslegscene&cat=entertainment&ID=219 is Erin's Leg Scene
http://usa.ultimatetopsites.com/bin/topsite.cgi?pinupglamour&cat=general&ID=86 is Pin Up Glamour

Both are separate toplist sites that are hosted with usa.ultimatetopsites.com

I have tried to add some site to my trade list that are toplists from similar sites and I get an error that I cannot add the same URL twice... the problem is, that although it is the asme URL it is a separate trade and therefore needs to be tracked separately. Can anyone suggest how I can get round this?

I have tried to make my first toplist for inclusion on my site, but whenever I submit I gat the following error.

Also, I find the toplist support pages very difficult to follow. Can anyone give me a step-by-step guide to making my first toplist template?

I agree. A definitive guide to writing a template would be good to, as I an trying to set up one as per the manual and cannot get it to work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have found that a lot of the info is hard to understand. It looks to me as if English is not your first language and as a result, some of the manual is confusing for me. I actually know a bit about scripts and installs etc so I can only imaging how hard it must be for someone that goes not.

If you want any help clarifying anything in more correct English, just ask I'm a qualified English teacher too
